The first training session is always new and exciting. The owners feel excited and overwhelmed to have a guest in their home and have many questions and goals to relay to us. The dog is excited because there’s a new human in the house. Some dogs constantly bark, jump, paw for attention, or invade the guest’s space.
With A+ Dog Training, Tom enters the home calmly and pays most of the attention to the owners. He discusses with the owners what their expectations are with their dog in the home. They’ll discuss rules and boundaries. Then he’ll go over the basic voice tones and educate about commands, corrections, and praise. By the time Tom’s lecture is complete, most dogs have found a place to relax in the room and have stopped barking or jumping. They don’t think it’s training, but they’re learning to be calm around guests in the home at the very beginning.
Luke, the Cane Corso, gives up trying to get Tom’s attention and falls asleep in a cool spot as Tom speaks to Luke’s owner. It looks like Luke earned an A+ for his first private training session in A+ Dog Training’s Calm Canine program!
