Responsible Dog Ownership

Responsible Dog Ownership

As Milo and I walked around his neighborhood, we spotted a pile of rocks with a sign that I assumed read, “Free Rocks”.  It turns out that the neighbor’s friend was going to haul them in a few days, so he put a sign for fun.  It read, “R.I.P.  Last dog to poop on our lawn”

Milo did a polite Sit Stay as I laughed with the neighbor, and I was so proud of him.  He earned an A+ for the day!

Although this sign was made in all good fun, it’s a great opportunity to remind the dog community that being a responsible dog owner involves picking up after your dog and disposing of the waste in an appropriate trash bin.

A+ Dog Training encourages you to keep your dogs off your neighbors’ lawns.  Many neighbors take pride in their green lawns and clean garden beds.  Leaving your dog’s feces makes it easier for diseases to spread, and their urine can burn the grass.

It’s best to walk your dog from home to an appropriate location where they can sniff and potty, then walk them back home.  This gives them a decent amount of exercise to burn off energy and allows them free time to sniff.  And, your neighbors will love and respect you for it!

A+ Dog Training and Milo would like to wish everyone happy trails and to remember to be kind.
