Yes, I’m saying it…Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

It’s time to be consistent and work on the “Place” or “Bed” command.  Having your dog stay in a certain spot helps when you don’t want them in the way, and you can’t supervise them while you’re cooking.  They can also sneak and grab bits and spills, which can be harmful.

Having them stay in a certain spot when guests arrive eliminates the issue of your dog escaping out the door or jumping on Grandpa who’s carrying a crockpot.

Having them stay in a certain spot while everyone is eating the Thanksgiving meal resolves hearing Uncle Jack yell, “This darn dog keeps begging!  Get out of here!”  It will also make sure that your sister-in-law doesn’t keep hand-feeding your dog during dinner, which will later cause your dog to have diarrhea all night or end up at the vet.

We hope this post reminds you and motivates you to work on the Bed or Place command consistently.  Thanksgiving is in 62 days!
