Happy Birthday, Ammo

Happy Birthday, Ammo

Today would have been Ammo’s 14th birthday.  We laid Ammo to rest the Monday before Thanksgiving.  He had the mind of a puppy but his body just couldn’t handle it anymore.

One of our fondest memories was taking Ammo for a photo with Santa at Pet Supplies Plus in Turlock.

A Greenie Dental Bone to Ammo is like a $250k paycheck.  Ammo sat patiently in line until it was his turn to meet Santa.  We watched as the other dogs before us had to sniff Santa and get familiar with him first, then listen to a squeaky toy to face towards the camera.

When it was Ammo’s turn, Tom reminded Ammo to be on his best behavior when meeting Santa.  I pulled out a Greenie and walked Ammo next to Santa.  As Ammo turned around and faced the camera, I hid his leash behind him, told him to Stay, and walked away.  Ammo was already facing the camera and the photographer was ready, but Santa was sitting there staring at Ammo in awe.  Tom, the photographer, and I all had to get SANTA’S attention to take the photo.  Ammo waited patiently, staring at the camera until he was released to leave Santa and get his paycheck.

I’m not sure if this was one of the photos taken that day, but I found it in one of the boxes with gift bags and bows.  I couldn’t help but share such a precious memory of our beloved Ammo and how proud we were to take him with us in public.  He was truly the best ambassador for A+ Dog Training!
