Holiday Hosting

The fall & winter seasons bring along many reasons for gatherings.  Although Ammo is a dog trainer’s dog, we still let guests know that he has food allergies and not to feed him.  We try to keep dangerous food out of reach, but it’s too easy for spills to happen at a party.  Keeping Ammo on a leash by our side helps us keep him safe while still enjoying the company around us.  He begins our party with a walk before everyone gets here, relaxes in the bedroom as guests are arriving, then on leash throughout the party.  Depending on what type of gathering it is, Ammo can lay in his “fort” in the main room while GiGi’s friends sit and gather at the table.  Ammo is not able to be off leash in the backyard where there’s children or adults with alcohol.  Dogs don’t know how to reason what type of manners to have at a party.  And even Ammo can display some great manners while giving an adorable, begging face for foods he shouldn’t have that could cost him a trip to the vet.  Don’t be reactive with your dog at a party this holiday season.  Being proactive with your dog will help you also become the hostess with the mostess!
