Sometimes we get calls from people wondering if we train dogs to be guard dogs. We don’t train dogs to bite on command – although that was Tom’s initial education with military working dogs, and he is capable of teaching you.
What we tell people is that your dog is a deterrent enough. Their presence makes suspicious people think twice about approaching you on a walk and their bark could be loud enough for a burglar to move on to another house.
When people complain about their dog always barking at the door, we discuss how it is a good thing that your dog barks. But, we teach your dog to stop barking on command once you find out that it’s just your mother-in-law stopping by for a surprise visit. Turning on and off your dog’s voice is deterrent enough to keep you feeling safe. Turning on and off your dog’s white chompers could lead to liability issues and escalated situations you don’t want to be in.
So, if you got a dog for your wife to feel safe while you are away from her, please give us a call. We’ll discuss what specific goals you’d like your dog to acquire and how protective you’d like your dog to be during your free consultation.
We usually train dogs to become well-mannered and confident. Dogs that need obedience training come to us, as well as those that need to eliminate unwanted behaviors.
On occasion, we train dogs to become service dogs or therapy dogs. If this is something that you are interested in, please call A+ Dog Training at 209-985-7898 for a free consultation. Please visit our Facebook page where you can follow Moose’s journey on becoming a service dog. Two videos were posted today.
When purchasing a home, there are quite a few times when you’ve got to go in and sign papers. We were in between clients in Modesto with Ammo, our Labrador. We knew our lender, Erick Winchester, would be happy to see Ammo but we weren’t sure if the rest of Opes Advisors would be okay bringing him (and all his fur) into their office. Ammo was a hit! Not only did they allow him to join us in the conference room, but other lenders and staff would stop in for a quick break and pet Ammo.
Buying a home can be stressful on the entire family. We were fortunate to be able to bring our dog to relieve some stress. A financial workplace can be very demanding, but seeing workers smile because they got to play with Ammo added to our home buying experience!
I know today is Cinco de Mayo and I should’ve taken a picture of a dog celebrating with a dog-friendly margarita or something, but today was a day full of training in Turlock, Modesto, Denair, Hilmar, and Atwater.
So here’s a late post of Earth Day at Modesto’s Graceada Park. There were so many families and dogs in attendance. It was great to get to know Modestans more and many scheduled a free consultation.
Andie & Slade would like to remind you that as the weather gets hot, please be aware of leaving your dog in a car. It’s warmer than it seems and these fur babies are too precious to lose to overheating.
